What is being built
New road base and asphalt, curbs, sidewalks, storm sewers, lighting and signals, a multi-use path and cycle track, plus water and sewer upgrades.
WSIB fund warning
Trent Hills circulated a resolution asking Ontario and the WSIB to review plans to eliminate the Second Injury and Enhancement Fund. The fund has offset employer costs when a workplace injury involves a pre-existing condition. Trent Hills says dropping it would raise municipal insurance costs. Clarington has not voted on this.
Newcastle BIA
June 11 minutes report a $74,649.75 balance, waived 2026 fees for picnic tables, garbage cans and stage use, Harvest Festival and Shop Clarington on Oct. 3, and a decision not to take event donations or sponsorships from local politicians in the election year. Ganaraska Conservation’s 2027 preliminary budget is listed, but no attachment was posted.
